n the afternoon of January 11, 2023, Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) held an online meeting with the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria (abbreviated as BOKU) to discuss the specific contents of the cooperation in training and research following the signing of the MOU between the two parties.
Attending the meeting, from BOKU, there were Prof. Eva Schulev-Steindl, Rector; Dr. Margarita Calderón-Üeter, Head of the International Cooperation Department, and representatives of the Faculty of Food Technology, Faculty of Chemistry, Faculty of Biotechnology, Faculty of Water, Atmosphere and Environment, and Center for Bioeconomy.
From VNUA, there were Prof. Dr. Pham Bao Duong, Vice President, and leaders of the International Cooperation Office, Training Management Office, Faculty of Biotechnology, Faculty of Food Technology, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Accounting and Business Management, Faculty of Economics and Rural Development, Faculty of Agronomy, Faculty of Natural Resources and Environment, and Faculty of Animal Sciences.
VNUA attends the online meeting with University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Republic of Austria (BOKU)
According to the MOU signed on December 2, 2022, VNUA and BOKU have agreed to cooperate on the following contents: exchange of teaching staff and researchers to organize conferences, participating in the acceptance committees and implementing academic cooperation and development projects; exchange of PhD. students and graduate students; exchange of research, scientific publications and scientific equipment for cooperation projects; cooperation in research and presentation of research results; and cooperation in writing funding proposals for collaborative research projects. The cooperation fields between the two parties include food technology, selection and development of plant and livestock varieties, biotechnology, analytical and applied chemistry, and bioeconomy, etc.
Discussing at the meeting, on the basis of the agreements in the signed MOU, the two parties agreed to implement specific contents such as encouraging VNUA’s lecturers to prioritize studying master's and PhD. programs at BOKU when applying for the scholarships of the Vietnamese Government and for the Ernst Mach scholarships of the Austrian Government through the Asea-Uninet network; exchanging graduate students and PhD students in the form of specialized internships at BOKU, or conducting research for 3-6 months under the scholarship programs of the Vietnamese Government, Asea-Uninet network, and Erasmus+, etc; building the Summer School program to bring BOKU's students for short-term exchange at VNUA; collaborate with BOKU’s professors in developing joint research proposals in the agreed fields, etc.
At the end of the meeting, the two parties agreed to promote the implementation of specific cooperation contents according to the MOU, continue to improve and tighten the cooperation relationship between VNUA and BOKU. The two parties would sign a plan to implement specific proposals during the upcoming visit of VNUA's leaders to Austria.
