DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL BIOTECHNOLOGY
HISTORY
The Department of Animal Biotechnology was established under the Decision no 1492/QD-NNH signed by the Rector of Hanoi University of Agriculture (now VietNam national university of agriculture) on October 22, 2008.
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT ORIENTATION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL BIOTECHNOLOGY
The main research areas of the Department include:
- Breeding high-yield, high-quality animals using genetic engineering and reproductive biotechnology.
- Creating animals or animal cells/tissues with special genetic traits to serve the pharmaceutical industry and modern biomedical sciences (e.g., transgenic animals, cloning, stem cells, etc.).
- Establishing a gene bank for various animal species to conserve biodiversity and enhance the value of indigenous genetic resources in Vietnam.
- Producing and commercializing products for agriculture, biomedical, and pharmaceutical applications, as well as kits for rapid and accurate (DNA test) determination of animal gender and certain diseases in livestock, poultry, and waterfowl.
