In order to expand the cooperative relationship in scientific research and student exchange, on 22nd March 2022, Faculty of Biotechnology, Vietnam National University of Agriculture (FOB, VNUA) and Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, University of Muenster, Germany signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the signing ceremony was conducted online.

Opening the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hao gave the opening speech and introduced the delegation at VNUA. Then, Professor Dr. Andreas Hensel (Director of IPBP) introduced the delegation at WWU Muenster. In order to understand each other better, the two sides briefly introduced their organizations. Dr Pham Thi Dung and Dr. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hanh briefly introduced VNUA and FOB, respectively, meanwhile Ms. Martina Hofer (International office of WWU) gave a brief introduction to the University of Muenster and its research strengths; followed by Professor Joachim Jose and Professor Andreas Hensel gave an introduction to the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and the Institute of Pharmaceutical Biology and Phytochemistry. Moving on to the most important part of the ceremony, the two sides signed the MoU under the witness of members of both sides and especially with the participation of Mr. Stefan Hase Bergen (Chief Representative of the German Academic Exchange Service, DAAD Hanoi, Vietnam). After signing, the two sides exchanged cooperation opportunities, as well as plans to deploy bilateral activities in the future.

Making a speech at the signing ceremony, Associate Professor. Dr. Nguyen Viet Long (Head of International Office of VNUA) proposed to upgrade the relationship between the two sides to the level of signing an agreement at the University level. Mr. Stefan Hase Bergen also pledged to have appropriate financial support for the action programs of both sides. Professor Andreas Hensel agreed to provide an internship for FOB's Master students for 6 months for the two sides to guide and discuss the results. The discussion was lively, in an atmosphere of openness, cooperation and mutual respect.

At the end of the ceremony, Associate Professor. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Canh (Dean of FOB, VNUA) and Professor Joachim Jose (Dean of faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, WWU Muenster) had concluding remarks. The two sides highly appreciate the research cooperation, as well as hope to deploy many activities after Covid 19 is under control.

The MoU between Faculty of Biotechnology, Vietnam National University of Agriculture and Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, University of Muenster, Germany aims to build a sustainable partnership in the future, bringing the opportunity to promote research, science and technology applications and academic exchange.
