From June 30 to July 5, 2026, a student from the Faculty of Biotechnology, Vietnam National University of Agriculture, participated in the 25th International Student Summit on Food, Agriculture and Environment (ISS 2026) held at Tokyo University of Agriculture, Japan. Under the theme "Pushing Boundaries: Inclusive Activities for Community Welfare," the summit aimed to inspire young people to develop innovative solutions that contribute to sustainable development and community well-being.

ISS 2026 served as an international academic forum, bringing together student delegates from 23 countries and territories. The summit featured 27 student presenters and 12 student chairpersons, who were divided into seven thematic groups to present, discuss, and exchange ideas on research related to food, agriculture, environmental sustainability, and community development.

Throughout the summit, research presentations were delivered in English before faculty members, experts, and fellow students from around the world. The event provided an excellent platform for participants to showcase their research achievements while strengthening their presentation skills, critical thinking, and academic communication in an international setting.

Representing the Faculty of Biotechnology, Ms. Tran Bich Diep, a student of class K68CNSHE, presented her research entitled "Youth-led Agricultural Innovation: Mapping Pre-Harvest Sprouting Resistance QTLs for Climate-Resilient Rice in Central Vietnam." Conducted under the supervision of Mr. Nguyen Quoc Trung, M.Sc., Department of Molecular Biology and Applied Biotechnology, the study introduced the application of molecular breeding strategies to improve rice resistance to pre-harvest sprouting under the impacts of climate change in Central Vietnam. The presentation attracted considerable interest from faculty members and international participants, generating insightful discussions and valuable feedback that will contribute to the future development of the research.

In addition to academic sessions, the summit featured a wide range of cultural exchange activities, group discussions, and educational visits. Students from different countries had opportunities to share their cultures, educational experiences, research interests, and perspectives on global challenges in agriculture and environmental sustainability. Working in a multicultural environment enabled participants to enhance their English communication skills, strengthen international collaboration, and build lasting academic and personal connections.

Beyond the conference sessions, cultural exchange programs and social activities created a welcoming atmosphere where students could learn from one another, appreciate cultural diversity, and establish meaningful friendships across borders.

Participation in ISS 2026 provided a valuable opportunity for students of the Faculty of Biotechnology to broaden their academic horizons, improve their research capabilities, and develop professional communication skills in an international environment. The summit also served as an opportunity to promote the image of Vietnam National University of Agriculture as an institution whose students are dynamic, innovative, and well-prepared for global academic collaboration.

The summit concluded with unforgettable memories of academic exchange, cross-cultural friendship, and international cooperation. The knowledge gained and relationships established throughout ISS 2026 will continue to inspire participants in their academic pursuits and encourage them to contribute to sustainable agricultural development and community welfare in the future.
